One of our own was profiled in the local paper! Judy teaches our ladies exercise class and also works in the children department.
Judy is also the go-to gal when someone in the church needs help. For instance, when someone in the church needs meals due to illness, Judy gets on the phone and lines up the meals. She is a truly generous person that thinks of others first.

You can find her profile in the Chico ER here.

Youth Mission Family

The Youth Mission Team is going to Mexico, starting Friday, June 13, 2008, to build a home for family in need. Up until this week, this family has been theoretical. Now, we know a little bit about them!
Meet the Garcia Lornejo family: Elipidia is a 36 year old single mother, raising two teenagers. She works in house maintenance and makes $40 a week. Her son, 16 year old Alvero, and her daughter, 15 year old, Lucia, both attend school in the afternoon. They live in a community called ‘Ampliacion Plan Libertador’, in Rosarito. The family used to live in Michoacan, but moved to Rosarito 9 years ago for a better life. Elipidia is still paying a mortgage for the land her current house sits on.

Elipida and her children believe in God, but say they are not very involved at church. When they go, they attend at the Catholic church.

The current house is a single room in bad condition. When it rains the roof leaks and Lucia tends to gets sick. The walls and floor are not in good condition either. The outhouse is less than perfect.

They do have electricity, drinkable water, access to propane, a stove, and a refrigerator. They do not have a telephone, or a car. A message from the family: “God Bless Amor ministries.”

Our youth will be building a two room, 11x22 foot house for the family to occupy. Really, it will not be much more than a shed when they leave, but the family will help finish the house the way they need it as they have the money.

We will try to post as often as we can!

The Gospel of Luke

Current Series

Luke is a fascinating guy whose work stands out from the rest of the New Testament. His writings seems to reach out and answer so many of the questions we have about Jesus and the birth of the early church. And there are very good reasons for that!
You see, Luke is a Greek from Antioch (in modern day southern Turkey). He is the only writer in the Bible that is not a Jew. So, he writes about Jewish history from an outsiders perspective. But, even for an outsider, he has a remarkable understanding of the culture. No wonder, since he is also an Old Testament scholar! Since Luke is writing to the Greek audience, he is uniquely qualified to answer the questions us outsiders have as he tells the stories.

Luke is also physician by trade. Being a studied scientist, he also has a keen mind for detail and seems to himself be quite a septic. So, he takes the work other people have done to record a history of Jesus, but also does the research. He goes to Jerusalem and talks with eyewitnesses and gets the story straight.

Come join us as we learn about Jesus through the eyes of Luke the Physician!

Miss a week? Keep up with streaming message audio.

Our Prayer Partner List

As we enter a 40 day prayer focus we have added a new feature to the website - a list of our prayer concerns. As with any list like this, our first concern is the privacy of the most sensitive requests, so we have placed the list in a section of the website that is only accessible if you are logged into the website.
In other words, in order to see the prayer requests, you must register to become a website member. Once your request has been processed, you may log in at any time to pray though the lists as well as request prayer for a particular issue.

As a church, we really do believe in prayer! We believe that our prayers matter to God and that God is honored by praises as well as our fervent petitions. If you would like to partner with us, please click the “REGISTER” button at the top of the screen. If you don’t see the button, that means you are already logged into the website!
